BRADFORD – Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) will be hosting the annual Property Tax/Rent Rebate Clinics in Emporium, Eldred, and Galeton next week. The clinics aim to provide assistance to eligible residents in filing for property tax and rent rebates.

The schedule for the clinics is as follows:

- Emporium Senior Center, 105 E. Fourth St., Emporium: Tuesday, Feb. 20, 10 a.m. to noon.

- Eldred Senior Center, 169 Main St., Eldred: Wednesday, Feb. 21, 9-11 a.m.

- Galeton Public Library, 5 Park Lane, Galeton: Wednesday, Feb. 21, 1-3 p.m.

The service is free and appointments are preferred. Residents can call 814-486-3707 to schedule an appointment at the Emporium Senior Center.

The recent change in state law has increased the income eligibility limits to $45,000 for both homeowners and renters. Additionally, residents should exclude 50% of Social Security when calculating income. The maximum rebate amount has also been raised from $650 to $1,000.

The program is designed to benefit eligible residents who are 65 years and older, widows and widowers who are 50 years and older, and individuals with disabilities who are 18 years and older.

To file for the rebate, residents must bring the necessary documentation to the clinics. Renters will need a 2023 PA Rent Certificate completed by their landlord or a statement from the HUD office. They will also need proof of income for 2023, such as Social Security/Disability Form 1099, employment W-2, Pension/Retirement Form 1099, and Interest/Dividends Form 1099. Additionally, renters must bring a driver's license or photo identification. Some individuals may also need to provide a death certificate, life lease, or deed.

Homeowners, on the other hand, will need to provide proof of 2023 paid property taxes to their county, municipality, and school district. Similar to renters, homeowners must also bring proof of income for 2023, a driver's license or photo identification, and any additional required documents.

For those who wish to receive their rebates through direct deposit, it is important to bring a check for account information. Otherwise, paper checks will be mailed out. Disbursements are expected to begin after July 1.

In addition to the clinics, assistance is also available at Causer's offices in Bradford, Coudersport, and Kane. Residents can visit these offices or apply online at mypath.pa.gov.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Clinics are part of Rep. Martin Causer's ongoing efforts to support the community. He encourages eligible residents to take advantage of this opportunity and receive the rebates they are entitled to.
