This year’s final Property Tax/Rent Rebate Clinic organized by Representative Martin Causer will take place on Thursday, March 13, at the Emporium Senior Center. The clinic aims to assist eligible residents in applying for rebates and will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. Although appointments are preferred, walk-ins are welcome.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program is designed for residents aged 65 and older, widows and widowers aged 50 and above, as well as individuals with disabilities aged 18 and over. The income limit for eligibility this year is set at $46,520 for both homeowners and renters, excluding half of Social Security or railroad retirement income. The maximum rebate available is $1,000.

To apply for the rebate, renters must provide a completed 2024 PA Rent Certificate or a statement from HUD office, proof of income such as Form 1099s or W-2s, photo identification, and potentially a death certificate. Homeowners need to present proof of paid property taxes for 2024 along with similar income documentation and identification; they may also need additional documents like a life lease or deed.

Applicants opting for direct deposit should bring a check for account verification; otherwise, paper checks will be issued starting after July 1. Additional assistance can be accessed at Representative Causer’s offices located in Bradford, Coudersport, or Kane. Online applications are also an option.
