Rep. Tina Pickett and Sen. Lisa Baker have announced the allocation of a $200,000 state grant to a local initiative under the Department of Environmental Protection’s Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program (AFIG). The funding aims to support clean and alternative fuel projects within Pennsylvania.

“These grants are an important investment in our local communities and the energy that powers them,” said Pickett. She emphasized the importance of providing additional energy options to benefit citizens, the economy, and the environment.

Senator Baker highlighted the significance of expanding vehicle fleets cost-effectively through such programs. “This is another example of how we can use our growing energy capacity to expand vehicle fleets in a cost-effective manner,” she stated. “This program is underwriting constructive community partnerships that ultimately sustain the local jobs climate.”

The grant has been awarded to PACCAR Leasing Company, part of PACCAR Financial Corp., which plans to utilize the funds for purchasing five compressed natural gas tractor trailers.

The AFIG was established in 1992 and is administered by DEP through its Energy Programs Office.
