Rep. Tina Pickett of the 110th Legislative District in Pennsylvania expressed her opposition to a proposed budget plan on Monday. The Republican representative, alongside her party colleagues, voted against the Democrat-led proposal, which allocates $50.6 billion.
“I voted ‘no’ on the budget proposal because it spends $50.6 billion, an overinflated amount without the revenue to support it,” said Pickett. She criticized the lack of support for energy development and efforts to cut waste or promote school choice, describing these as key Republican priorities that were overlooked.
House Bill 1330, associated with this budget plan, has not been negotiated with either the Senate or the governor’s office, indicating further discussions are necessary.
“This spending plan does not serve the people of Pennsylvania,” Pickett added. “This budget bill is not in anyone’s best interest, especially Pennsylvania’s taxpayers.” She emphasized that more work is required to reach an agreement that ensures fiscal responsibility while promoting economic growth in Pennsylvania.
Pickett also highlighted that the 2025-26 state budget is overdue by two weeks but stressed the need for a final plan that maintains spending limits and supports economic expansion.
