Rep. Tina Pickett is organizing a shredding event at her upcoming Senior Expo to help residents protect themselves from identity theft. The event will take place in Bradford County on Friday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lynch Bustin Elementary School, Athens. The shredding service will be available from 10 a.m. to noon.

“These shredding events are part of our ongoing effort to help our community members safeguard their personal information,” said Pickett. “I encourage our area residents to take advantage of this service.”

Items suitable for shredding include credit card statements or applications, bank statements, canceled checks, old income tax information, insurance and medical records, and other materials with identifying personal information such as Social Security numbers and bank account details. Each person is limited to two boxes of documents for residential shredding only.

“I am pleased to be able to provide the community, in partnership with North Central Sight Services, with a secure way to shred large amounts of personal documents and reduce the risk of becoming a victim of identity theft,” Pickett added.
