The state budget in Pennsylvania remains unresolved more than six weeks after the June 30 deadline, according to Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming). Pickett issued a statement highlighting the ongoing impasse and expressing concern about the focus of recent legislative sessions.
“The state budget is 42 days past the June 30 deadline with no clear path forward. Instead of debating a comprehensive budget bill, majority House Democrats called us back into session this week to take up legislation about funding for mass transit. We cannot resolve this issue in a vacuum,” Pickett said.
She emphasized that Pennsylvania faces multiple challenges beyond mass transit, including education, public safety, and transportation. “Our Commonwealth is facing many serious issues such as education, public safety, transportation and more. It is in the best interest of our Commonwealth that all parties – the House, Senate and especially our governor – engage in meaningful conversations to resolve these problems for the benefit of our citizens,” she added.
Pickett represents the 110th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
