Pennsylvania Senator Lisa Baker has called on nonprofits and counties to apply for state grants aimed at supporting veterans. The priorities for these grants include mental health, transportation, and employment programs.
“Nonprofits, counties & other groups that provide services to veterans have until Dec. 19 to apply for grants to help fulfill their missions,” said Elisabeth J. Baker, Pennsylvania State Senator for the 20th District. “Priorities include veteran mental & behavioral health, transportation & employment. Apply for grants to help fulfill their missions.”
The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is offering Veterans’ Trust Fund grants to local organizations dedicated to veteran support. These funds are intended to enhance access to care, housing, and job opportunities throughout the Commonwealth.
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Pennsylvania is home to more than 700,000 veterans. Many of these individuals rely on local nonprofits for assistance with employment, healthcare, and transportation needs.
Since its inception in 2013, Pennsylvania’s Veterans’ Trust Fund has distributed over $6 million in grants to more than 200 organizations statewide. This funding has contributed significantly to improving veteran services and community outreach efforts.
Baker is a Republican State Senator representing Pennsylvania’s 20th District. She chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee and is recognized for her advocacy on behalf of veterans’ issues, public safety, and community health initiatives.
