Athens Area High School issued the following announcement on Aug. 3
Back to school often comes with a lengthy to-do list to prepare families and students with a shift in routine. Beyond this preparation, there is a wide array of emotions ranging from excitement to nervousness.
This year there is even greater anxiety about getting back to school as we evaluate the health & safety of all stakeholders amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As parents ourselves, we understand how difficult it can be to determine the right thing to do. That said, we acknowledge and respect the various convictions about students returning to school and that is why we are providing flexibility and choice.
You will find a survey below that will help us all plan according to the choice you are making on behalf of your child(ren). We ask that you select a choice for instruction and transportation. With your instructional choice, we ask you to commit to a marking period before shifting to another option. Currently, the first marking period is slated to close on October 30th.
Choice A - Traditional In-Person (Students will receive instruction within an AASD building daily)
Choice B - Limited Traditional In-Person (Students will participate virtually Monday-Wednesday-Friday and attend in person on Tuesday and Thursday)
Choice C - Live Streaming Option (Students will participate in AASD classes from home through Zoom)
Choice D – WOLA (Wildcat Online Learning Academy - Students will receive instruction at home through online courses at their own pace)
We will be providing more details in the coming days. At this time, we greatly appreciate your response to the survey and your continued patience as we navigate the upcoming school year. Please fill out a survey for each child. We are mailing a survey to your home as well, so do not worry if you are unable to complete it online.
