Pittsburgh metro lag behind Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario in 2019

The Pittsburgh metro area exported $9.7 billion in 2019, less than exports from Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Pittsburgh metro area consists of seven counties.

The Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario metro area comprises two counties exporting $9.7 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
