Mansfield University women's cross country and track and field sophomore Angie Colon (Farmingville, N.N. / Sachem East) is set to compete in the U.S. Junior National Championships in the 10K race walk at Hayward Field on Friday morning, June 24.
Colon will be competing for a spot on the United State Junior Team, which will be competing in a dual meet against Canada in August.
The women's 10 km race walk will kick off at 7:30 a.m. on Friday morning. Colon's results will be posted to gomounties.com.
Colon qualified for the event by competing at the nationally acclaimed Penn Relays in the 5k race walk, notching the second-best time in school history with a 25:49.16. To view qualifying standards for all events, click here.
In January, Colon represented the Mounties at the USATF NE Open and Masters meet in the 1-mile race walk placing second with a time of 7:31.53 which put her at provisional time.
