Census Bureau: 2.3% of people in McKean County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 40,652 citizens living in McKean County in 2021, 97.7% said they were only one race, while 2.3% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in McKean County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 93.9% or 38,190 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 2.4% and totaled 960 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in McKean County is 2% lower than the state average, which stands at 4.3%.
