State Representative Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) has announced that the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) has awarded $12,000 in state grants to three organizations in the area. The Eldred World War II Museum, Cameron County Historical Society, and McKean County Historical Society will each receive $4,000 through the Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program.

Causer recognizes the important role that these historical societies play in preserving and educating about local history. He also acknowledges the significance of the Eldred World War II Museum in preserving the history of World War II and highlighting the community's support for the war effort. In a statement, Causer expressed his support for the grant program, stating, "I was glad to support this important investment in these organizations."

The Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program provides general operating support to museums and historical societies in Pennsylvania that are not directly supported by other state programs. The grants are awarded based on a formula that takes into account the organization's annual operating budget. This year, a total of 158 organizations in 58 counties across the state received funding through the program.

These grants will undoubtedly help these organizations continue their important work in preserving and promoting local history. The funds will support various activities and initiatives, such as museum exhibits, educational programs, and maintenance of historical sites.

The announcement of these grants demonstrates the commitment of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission to support and preserve the state's rich history. Through these grants, the commission is able to provide crucial funding to organizations that are dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories and artifacts of the past.

The grants also highlight the importance of community support in preserving local history. By investing in these organizations, the state recognizes the value of their contributions and the role they play in educating the public about the past.

The recipients of the grants expressed their gratitude for the support. The Eldred World War II Museum stated, "We are deeply grateful for this grant, which will enable us to continue our mission of honoring the sacrifices and bravery of those who served in World War II." The Cameron County Historical Society and McKean County Historical Society also expressed their appreciation for the funding, emphasizing the impact it will have on their ability to preserve and share the history of their respective communities.

These grants serve as a reminder of the importance of preserving our history and the role that local organizations play in this endeavor. The ongoing support from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, along with the dedication of organizations like the Eldred World War II Museum, Cameron County Historical Society, and McKean County Historical Society, ensures that future generations will have the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by the stories of the past.
