State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative Clint Owlett have announced the allocation of $981,470 in state funding to Westfield Borough in Tioga County. The funds are intended for a sewer rehabilitation project and were approved at the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) meeting through the Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide program.
"The funding approved today is a valuable investment that is good for our citizens and good for our environment," stated Yaw. He expressed satisfaction in collaborating with Rep. Owlett and local officials to advance this project.
Owlett highlighted the importance of infrastructure by stating, "Reliable infrastructure – whether it’s sewer, water, or roads and bridges – is a public health and safety issue, as well as an economic issue." He further noted his appreciation for working alongside Sen. Yaw to secure this grant for their district.
The funding will cover construction, engineering, and administrative costs associated with rehabilitating sanitary sewer lines on North Street, Lincoln Street, and Mill Street. Additionally, plans include repairing or replacing all connecting manholes to enhance system reliability and affordability.
The PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act facilitates the distribution of gaming revenues via the CFA to support projects beneficial to Pennsylvania's public interest. Established in 2004 as part of the Department of Community and Economic Development, the CFA evaluates applications based on cost-effectiveness, strategic importance, and impact.
