State grants amounting to nearly $750,000 have been allocated for various projects and purchases in Wyoming County. The announcement was made by Representative Tina Pickett and Senator Lisa Baker.
The grants will fund several initiatives: Factoryville Borough will receive $125,000 for a new pickup truck; Falls Township is set to get $228,924 for a municipal truck; Lemon Township will obtain $125,000 for an excavator; Nicholson Borough has been awarded $142,013 for the first phase of constructing the Nicholson Historical Nature Trail; and Tunkhannock Borough will use its $125,000 grant to build a utility shed.
Representative Pickett emphasized the importance of state funding support. “Limited budgets often make it difficult for small municipalities to purchase much-needed equipment,” she said. “That’s why state funding support is critical to ensuring those purchases are made so local officials can continue to provide municipal services to their residents.”
Senator Baker praised local officials' efforts in project submission. “Once again, we commend local officials for submitting good projects to upgrade community facilities, enhance environmental protection, and expand recreational opportunities. These are locally determined priorities that mean a great deal to residents. In combination, these projects make our communities more livable and enjoyable,” she stated.
These funds come from the Local Share Account (LSA) program which allocates gaming revenue towards community and economic development projects. The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved these grants as part of its role in managing Pennsylvania's economic growth programs.
