FOIA Request to Sullivan County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In a bid to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Northern Tier News have sent a request for records under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., to the Sullivan County Election Department.
The request seeks information about all candidates running in the upcoming election. Specifically, we asked for the first, middle, and last names of each candidate; the office they are running for; their jurisdiction; and their party affiliation.
In addition to these details, we also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
