Thirty-three fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in Bradford County have been awarded nearly $432,000 through the 2024-25 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. This announcement was made by Representatives Tina Pickett and Clint Owlett.
“It is encouraging to see so many fire and EMS companies in Bradford County taking advantage of this state program, which helps to ease their financial pressures,” said Pickett. “The vital life-saving services they provide to our communities are truly appreciated."
Owlett emphasized the importance of these grants, stating, “Local fire and EMS teams put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities, and that responsibility has grown harder as costs rise. These annual grants are an important way the state can help to support these essential first responders.”
The funding supports various projects including construction or renovation of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training, or debt reduction. The General Assembly created this ongoing funding program with grants generated from slot machine gaming proceeds.
A list of grant recipients includes Athens Township Volunteer Fire Company receiving $14,385 and Greater Valley EMS receiving $15,000 for both fire and EMS divisions among others.
Administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency with applications handled through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC), all eligible companies receive funding upon filing a grant agreement with OSFC.
