Rep. Tina Pickett and Sen. Lisa Baker have announced that Overfield Township in Wyoming County will receive a $100,000 state grant for a community park project. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources approved the funding through the Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2).
The grant is designated for the rehabilitation and development of Teener Field Park. Planned improvements include constructing a pedestrian walkway and parking area, installing playground equipment with safety surfacing, ensuring ADA access, adding signage, landscaping, and other site enhancements.
"This project is necessary to maintain the park as an important community asset," stated Pickett. "With that in mind, we worked to secure the state funding that will make the improvements possible so residents can enjoy a safe and up-to-date recreational facility for many years to come."
Baker noted, "As our municipal parks expand and add recreational activities, they become even more popular with residents. They are safe and relaxing centers for people young and old. The community deserves credit for good planning and generating local support."
The C2P2 program supports local governments and organizations involved in recreation and conservation by providing financial assistance for projects related to parks, recreation, and conservation efforts. Funding comes from various state and federal sources.
