Fourteen fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in Wyoming County have been awarded close to $198,000 through the 2024-25 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. This announcement was made by Rep. Tina Pickett, representing Bradford and Wyoming.

“It is wonderful to see so many fire and EMS companies in Wyoming County continue to take full advantage of this state program, which helps to lighten their financial load,” said Pickett. She emphasized the value and appreciation for the critical life-saving services these organizations provide to local communities.

Eligible projects for funding include construction or renovation of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training, or debt reduction. The funding program was established by the General Assembly, with grants funded from slot machine gaming proceeds rather than General Fund tax revenue.

The specific grants for Wyoming County are as follows: Factoryville Fire Company received $13,740 for fire services and $15,000 for EMS; FWM Emergency Squad Inc. was granted $15,000; Lake Carey Volunteer Fire Company received $12,879; Lake Winola Fire Company 1 got $15,461 for fire services and $15,000 for EMS; Meshoppen Volunteer Fire Company received $15,031 for fire services and another $15,000 for EMS; Nicholson Fire Company No. 1 obtained $12,449; Northmoreland Township Volunteer Fire Company got $13,740; Noxen Community Ambulance Association received $15,000; Noxen Volunteer Fire Company was granted $12,879; Triton Hose Company No. 1 received $11,681; Tunkhannock Community Ambulance Association was allocated $15,000.

The grant program is managed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency with applications processed through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). Companies that apply and meet OSFC's outlined requirements receive funding upon filing a grant agreement with OSFC.
