Thirty-three fire and emergency medical services (EMS) companies in Bradford County have been awarded nearly $432,000 through the 2024-25 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. This announcement was made by Representatives Tina Pickett and Clint Owlett.
“It is encouraging to see so many fire and EMS companies in Bradford County taking advantage of this state program, which helps to ease their financial pressures,” said Pickett. “The vital life-saving services they provide to our communities are truly appreciated."
Owlett added, “Local fire and EMS teams put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities, and that responsibility has grown harder as costs rise. These annual grants are an important way the state can help to support these essential first responders.”
Eligible projects for funding include construction or renovation of facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training, or debt reduction. The funding program was established by the General Assembly with funds generated from slot machine gaming proceeds.
The specific grant amounts awarded to each company in Bradford County were listed, with organizations such as Athens Township Volunteer Fire Company receiving $14,385 and Greater Valley EMS receiving $15,000 for both fire and EMS services.
The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency administers the program, while the Office of the State Fire Commissioner handles applications. Companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC to receive their grants.
