A $750,000 grant has been awarded to Tioga Township in Tioga County for upgrades to Park Hill Road, according to an announcement from Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford) and Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23).
“Especially in rural areas like ours, our roads and bridges are vital to connecting us with economic and recreational opportunities, and to one another,” said Owlett. “This project is a major win for the community, and I appreciate the opportunity to work with Sen. Yaw and our local officials to make it happen.”
Yaw added, “Today’s award will enhance public safety and ensure our region’s infrastructure meets the needs of residents for years to come. I was pleased to join Rep. Owlett in advocating for this funding to help make these projects a reality.”
The township plans to use full depth reclamation with cement and 19mm Superpave asphalt for the road upgrade. The improvements aim to provide industrial access for timber harvests as well as oil and gas exploration activities. The project will also improve access to Gamelands #37 for hunting purposes.
Additional planned enhancements include widening the paved section of Park Hill Road, installing guardrails for increased safety, upgrading signage, and adding pavement markings. These changes are intended not only for vehicle traffic but also to support hiking, biking, and snowmobile routes between Gamelands #37 and Tioga Borough. This improved connectivity is expected to benefit local businesses such as restaurants, sporting goods stores, and gas stations by increasing access.
Funding comes from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which supports projects that promote economic development while maintaining safe transportation systems across Pennsylvania.
