State Rep. Tina Pickett | Pennsylvania 110th Legislative District
Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) is taking steps to educate older residents about the latest scams and how to protect themselves. She is co-hosting two financial fraud seminars in February to raise awareness among seniors and equip them with the knowledge to avoid becoming victims.
"The goal of our seminars is to make older residents aware of the latest scams targeting the senior population; teach them how to avoid being victimized; and make sure they know who to call when they are concerned about their safety and financial well-being," said Pickett.
The first seminar will take place on Friday, February 23, at 10 a.m. at the Sons and Daughters of Italy Hall in Sayre. The second seminar will be held at 1 p.m. at the Wysox Fire Hall in Wysox.
To make these events possible, Pickett is collaborating with the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities, the BSST Area Agency on Aging, and PA Link. The seminars will feature Fraud Bingo, an interactive presentation designed to teach consumers how to protect themselves from investment scams and other fraudulent schemes.
Reservations for the seminars are encouraged and can be made online at RepPickett.com/events or by calling Pickett's district office in Sayre (570-888-9011) or Towanda (570-265-3124).
By organizing these seminars, Rep. Tina Pickett aims to empower older residents with the knowledge they need to safeguard their financial and personal well-being. It is crucial for seniors to be aware of the latest scams and to know how to avoid falling victim to them. These seminars will provide valuable information and resources to help seniors protect themselves.
