More Pennsylvania retirees will become eligible for reduced vehicle registration fees starting Sunday, December 15. This change comes with a new state law that increases the income eligibility limit for retirees to $29,906, a rise of over $10,000 from the previous threshold.

Representative Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) expressed support for this initiative. "As many retirees deal with rising costs on a fixed income, this program provides a bit of relief to those who need it," Causer stated. He further encouraged eligible retirees to utilize this benefit.

Eligible applicants must be retired and receiving Social Security or other pension payments. Notably, veterans' benefits or payments to an unmarried surviving spouse are excluded from the income calculation. Only one vehicle per applicant can be registered at the reduced fee, which applies only to passenger cars or trucks weighing no more than 9,000 pounds.

For additional information and application forms, interested parties can contact Representative Causer’s offices in Bradford, Coudersport, or Kane.
