Chief Mike Johnson of the Port Allegany Fire Department demonstrated new breathing equipment to state Representative Martin Causer. The department, known as Star Hose Company #1, acquired 21 new self-contained breathing apparatuses through a $150,000 grant. This funding was secured with assistance from Causer and provided by the state Department of Community and Economic Development.

The newly purchased equipment is designed to be lighter and can hold more air than previous models. It also includes additional safety features such as an electronic firefighter locator, which aids in rescue operations if a firefighter becomes lost or trapped during a fire. Furthermore, it offers a more timely low air warning to allow firefighters extra time to exit hazardous environments.

Representative Martin T. Causer serves the 67th District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. For media inquiries, Patricia A. Hippler can be contacted at 717-772-9846 or phippler@pahousegop.com.
