With the psychiatric services at Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) scheduled to cease operations on Sunday, Representative Martin Causer has voiced his concerns regarding the reduction of services.
Causer expressed his gratitude towards the healthcare professionals at BRMC, stating, "I want to, first and foremost, commend the dedicated health care professionals at BRMC for the excellent care they provide to our community. These professionals are valued and appreciated."
He criticized Kaleida Health executives in Buffalo, NY, for their decision-making process. "The decision to reduce services is being made by corporate executives at Kaleida Health in Buffalo, NY. These executives don’t know anything about our community," he said. He urged Kaleida Health to either invest in local healthcare needs or sell BRMC to another system that would prioritize community care.
To address compliance with Pennsylvania's healthcare regulations and commitments made during BRMC's merger with Olean General Hospital, Causer has requested a formal investigation by the Pennsylvania Secretary of Health and Attorney General. "As a strong advocate for rural health care, I will continue fighting for access to quality health care for our region," he affirmed.
