The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has secured $2 million in state funding to renovate the Hanley Library. This announcement was made by Rep. Martin Causer and Sen. Cris Dush.
“We are fortunate to have such a great educational institution right here in McKean County to serve not only our students but also students from around the country and around the world,” stated Causer. “I am pleased to support the university in its efforts to continue to improve and expand to meet the needs of our students, including through the renovation of the library.”
Sen. Dush added, “Receiving this highly competitive funding demonstrates that the impact and value of Hanley Library extends far beyond the physical boundaries of the Pitt-Bradford academic community.” He further quoted President Dwight D. Eisenhower: “‘The libraries of America are and must ever remain the home of free and inquiring minds.’”
The allocated funds will cover demolition and construction work, such as replacing doors, renovating the foyer, creating a new stairwell, and installing sidewalks for easy access from the engineering building to the library. The project will involve foundation work, HVAC modifications, electrical changes, energy-efficient lighting installations, and plumbing retrofits.
This financial support is part of a larger initiative authorized by lawmakers under the Capital Budget Project Itemization Act. It is provided through Pennsylvania's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), which supports regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical projects with significant economic impacts.
