State Representative Clint Owlett has announced the allocation of over $430,000 in state funds aimed at enhancing school safety and mental health services within Tioga County.

The funding is part of a broader initiative to ensure that students feel secure and supported during their educational pursuits. "For our students to succeed in school, they must feel safe and supported," said Owlett. "These grants are an important tool in helping achieve that goal, and I am pleased to see this funding coming to our area schools."

The financial support will be distributed among the county's three school districts as follows: Northern Tioga School District will receive $137,012; Southern Tioga School District will be granted $132,542; and Wellsboro Area School District will obtain $126,580.

In addition to these allocations, New Covenant Academy has been awarded a $38,000 grant under the Targeted School Safety Grants for Nonpublic Schools program. This specific funding is intended to address issues related to school violence and enhance overall security measures.

The grants were issued by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency through its School Safety and Security Committee.
