The city of Bradford has received a $300,000 state grant aimed at rehabilitating Callahan Park. This announcement was made by Representative Martin Causer, who serves the Cameron, McKean, and Potter areas.

“This park is such an asset to our nearby schools and child care centers, but it really provides recreational opportunities for people of all ages,” stated Causer. “I am pleased to see this significant investment into one of our local parks.”

The grant will be used for several improvements within the park. These include renovating a comfort station and pavilion, constructing a pedestrian walkway and parking area, enhancing ADA access, landscaping, adding project signage, and other related site improvements.

Callahan Park spans approximately 28 acres and is located near Bradford Area High School, School Street Elementary School, and the Bradford Regional Medical Center. The park features an indoor ice rink, two pools with a pool house, a splash park, playground facilities, three basketball courts, four tennis courts that also accommodate pickleball games, and three baseball fields. Additionally, there are two pavilions available for rent for events or celebrations.

The funding comes from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. This program is supported by various state and federal funding sources.
