State Rep. Tina Pickett | Pennsylvania 110th Legislative District
Rep. Tina Pickett has been reappointed as the Republican chair of the Insurance Committee for the 2025-26 Legislative Session in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Pickett, who represents Bradford and Wyoming counties, first assumed this role in 2013.
The Insurance Committee is responsible for overseeing the Insurance Department and reviewing insurance-related legislation to assess its impact on consumers. Pickett emphasized the committee's role as a "watchdog for Pennsylvania consumers" and expressed her commitment to developing fair policies. She stated, "I believe my many years of experience on the committee are a great advantage and I look forward to working with my colleagues during the new term."
The committee addresses various issues including auto, health, homeowners, life insurance, insurance fraud prevention, mental health parity, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
On January 7th, Pickett and other members took their oaths of office for the new session. In addition to her role on the Insurance Committee, she will serve on several other standing committees: Committee on Committees (as Republican chair), Rules, and Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development.
Committees play a vital role in legislative processes by reviewing bills assigned to them. They can hold hearings, consider amendments to pending bills, and report them to the full House for voting.
